Researcher

Currently Recruiting!

Because of the lack of focus on the importance of fosters and adoptees stories historically, we are piecing together data to understand the record of life histories and harness stories well.  A volunteer researcher will help gather information using the internet as a primary source.

Ambassador

Currently Recruiting!

Ambassadors will have a passion for our mission to give foster youth and adoptees people back their stories and will have personal experience in the foster and adoption world. Ambassadors will share their experience in a variety of ways, to raise awareness and educate the public about the power of story through video appearances, surveys, public speaking, tabling, workgroups and special events, based on comfort and availability.

Designer

Visual design is key to sharing our message that young people’s stories are powerful.  What we see is the first impression we make and engages potential partners and the general community on who we are and why what we do matters.  Power of Story is looking for a designer for both ongoing on a specific current project.

Business Lawyer

Currently Recruiting!

There are many legal documents that need to be created and submitted in a timely manner at the founding of a new nonprofit. We would love to have a nonprofit-focused business lawyer to turn to with questions or the occasional document review.

*Must be a current lawyer with experience with nonprofits.

Copy Editor

Not currently recruiting for

Our mission is compelling, but it also needs to sound right!  Copyediting ensures grammar, syntax, and spelling are correct; the established style for Power of Story is followed; and our materials is suitable and understandable to teenagers and young adults, as well as grantmakers and contracting partners. We are looking for skilled copy editors who will whip out their red pen and edit our materials before they go out into the world.

Social Media Expert

The Social Media Expert will help POWER OF STORY be more visible and spread our message. The Social Media Expert will develop and implement a social media strategy to increase overall reach and brand awareness, through our Instagram presence and website presents, and help us grow on new platforms.

Fundraiser

Not currently recruiting for

We are a new nonprofit and are just getting established financially, and would like to grow and diversify our donor base.  We are looking for a relationship-focused fundraiser who can help us network with individuals and organizations who care about the Power of Story.  In time, we will also add fundraising events and will need different levels of assistance with all aspects of planning and execution, from events to email asks.

Prior fundraising experience required.

Board Member

Board membership is a great way to build your resume and skillset, while supporting a nonprofit whose mission and values you align with.  As a board member, you are entrusted with the responsibility to see that donor funds are well spent, and to protect their best interests and the best interests of the organization.  You will also work on the organization’s strategic direction, to grow and/or focus the vision of what they can do in the community to make a stronger impact.

Do you need to be located in the Twin Cities of Minnesota to volunteer?

No! We have many virtual options available, just be sure to mention where in the world you are when you apply, so we get you started in the right direction.

What is the time commitment? Qualifications?
